EDIT - I see that the carfax reports are available on both with a link, derp. So it looks like the 2014 has been in the (salt-free) south, while the 2015 was in Mass-a-salt-bath-achussetts. And it has damage on the carfax, for whatever that’s worth. Hmmmmm

Another edit - Does anyone know if the bluetooth in these will work for music AND for phone integration? I’m sure of the latter, just not the former. This is kind of a purgatory for that technology, pre-car-play but well into the time of factory bluetooth... examples being my 2012 Volvo which does music/phone perfectly, and my wife’s 2015 Mini which does ONLY phone. Forum discussions are unclear, some success some failure.

Anyone want to run a carfax for me?? Pretty please??

Any thoughts or input is appreciated. I said I’m leaning toward the 2015 CPO, because CPO but I’d like to see carfax history too.

I know these are more than what she was looking at a couple weeks ago. I guess just... what does money even mean anyway?

They are both Lexus , BOOM car facts. Your welcome

In seriousness though they both already have   carf ax... click the carfax logo on #1 and then click certified 1 owner on the second.

I would link them but I'm on phone

You do know CPO doesn’t mean anything, right?

You can look up the service history at https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/history .

Both seem to have nice service records according to the site.

I can’t run it but RXs are a solid choice!

false. it means the dealership can charge you more for merely using three additional letters to describe a vehicle.

Well, they’ll extend the manufacturer’s warranty, which some folks which probably includes his sister (or my wife, for another example) like. That said, if the model doesn’t have a bad track record, you have   good service records and you can do/get a mechanic’s inspection, I agree you don’t need to go that route..

This gives me an idea, would it violate terms or something for a group of oppos to split an annual carfax membership?

FSport all the way. The standard front bumper looks like they too a sawsall to the chin in a very hillbilly effort to increase approach angle.

That they do not offer a free carfax on their web page is kind of astounding in this day and age, all of our local dealers do this with used cars, it can’t cost them that much.

Yeah if they’ll extend the warranty that’s something else.

Cool, thanks! I’m actually thinking the one that lived in Florida and NC is better off than the one that lived in Mass (salt) for the last few years.

The Fsport spent its life in the (salt-free) south, so that’s something too.

Besides the extended warranty; I found the pre sale work they did on the car to be pretty good when I bought my beetle CPO ; I bought it at 55,000 miles but they did the complete 60,000 mile service(I verified they had put in new spark plugs, air filter, and a couple other things that I can’t recall). They also put on 4 new, matching, OE tires.

Compared to the non-CPO  cars I cross shopped it with; it seemed more confidence inspiring.

Mrs Snuze drove a 2004 RX330 for about 9 years . It was a hand-me-down from her mom, who has owned 4 of them now (a 300, two 330s, and now a 350) . All of them have been CPOs and I would describe my MIL as being both thrifty and choosy, so for her to buy 4 of the same car says something, I think. As far as I know none of them have ever had any huge issues.

In particular all we ever had to do with ours was a timing belt (and water pump since we were in there) which is normal, and a power steering rack at around 11 0k (a couple months before it was totaled). The rack probably could have gone a while longer, it was functioning fine, the seals were just wearing and it was starting to get leaky. My wife was also tough on it in the sense that it was an 04, she got it in like 09 with about 85 k miles on it and in 9 years only put another 25k on it. Mostly in the form of a literal sub-2 mile commute. So lots of short trips with no time to warm up.

My personal feelings were that it’s THE northern Virginia/DC Suburb mom mobile. It’s a really boring, but well appointed luxury appliance for people who can’t afford a Mercedes or don’t want that kind of attention.

Thanks for the input. On the last point: she’s driving a 2002 RX??? right now, that’s a hand-me-down from a family with tons of money who just wants cars that work and are reasonably nice. They now have a Rav4 and a Pilot. Anyway, she definitely wants something in the “boring, well-appointed luxury appliance without the attention of the Merc” category. I talked her out of an X5 for appearances, and also reliability. I tried and failed to convince her to get a high-trim-level Rav4 or CR-V, which would maybe be even better.

I’m to the point I’m basically over anything German for long term ownership in terms of reliability. At least anything made in the last couple years.

I like your idea about the Rav and CR-V, we shopped both and both were nice. I also really liked the top trim CX-5 a lot, would she consider that? I mean Mazda is an up-and-coming luxury brand, right? Isn’t that like their new direction or something?

Also, I’ll plug my own here ,but maybe, just maybe a 2018/2019 Terrain (or maybe the Caddy equivalent ) ? I really, really LOVE our Terrain Denali, though it may not be quite right for her if she’s mos tly looking for something plush. It gives up a little bit in terms of luxury, but I think it’s probably  the most well rounded/ capable CUV in that class. I also love the look, though it’s polarizing, but you could also option up an SLT to be a bit more discrete.

My point is there is no definition of what CPO means. They can be like yep I checked it.

At least in the ones I've looked at that was a part of the deal.  That said, my wife's tastes are at least a half step down from Lexus, so I don't know if it extends to luxury brands..
